Terrible new, bloggoers!

I don’t know how or why it happened, but several files critical to Oblivion have disspeared from my Hard Drive! Thus I cannot play the game and will be forced to restart from the beginning, which, thankfully, isn’t far away. I will continue the story from more or less the part I left off at, so you don’t have to read me doing the same thing over again. If I’m lucky, I’ll be able to get a new (albeit short) update today, so, yeah.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Schedule

I’ve got a sort of a schdule worked out - Updates will most likely be on Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.I know it is an odd schedule but it works for me, and that’s what matters. However, if the situation arises where I have a chance to write another update, I assure you all that I will. If an update is missed, there will usually be a post as to why It couldn’t be done.

Also: If you are one of the few who READ the blog, please don’t hesistate to comment on the posts! Pointer, suggestions, and general rabble would be greatly appreciated!

Day One, Part Two: Poking around

I arrive inside Leyawiin; to this sight:

A beggar: Bah! Nuts to beggars! All they ever do is leech off of the rest of us… Although I admit I’m not looking any better than they are now, with 17 coins and an apple.

I immediately start poking around for stuff to sell, and it promptly starts raining. While poking around, I spot this fellow just sort of standing in ankle deep water, as Argonians normally do, I assume.

He tells me a racial-insensitive joke about Khajiit (Jeez, is it just me, or is it that there are ALWAYS two i’s in everything? LeyawIIn, CyrodIIl, KhajIIt). I admire him for a while, after which he informs me that Dark Brotherhood Speakers will visit you in your sleep after you murder someone. I’m not exactly planning to do that, as this… Dark Brotherhood thing sounds kind of… Dangerous… too dangerous for a man of Grugzobs’ type.

Speaking of Grugzob, before entering Leyawiin, he was visited by someone known only as the console god. He allowed Grugzob to change his birthsign and his major skills, but once and only this once. As of now, Grugzob is born under The Lord, and not The Tower, giving him the Blood of the North lesser power, which allows him to restore his health 6 points for 15 seconds. He also has a 25% weakness to fire. Also, instead of having Heavy Armour as a major skill, his skill is now in LIGHT ARMOUR. The console god then disappeared, never to return again. EVER.)

After several hours of in game time of searching, I find my first ingredient:

Huzzah! Soon the septims will start rolling in, and Rosethorn hall will be mine!

soon after, I find a milk thistle growing on the side of the road:

Good… Everything is going as planned…

Or not. No matter how intensely I poke, I can’t find any plants. However, I see a wood elf, in armour, I might add, mulling about, so I approach him with the intention to ask about where plants tend to grow.

However, to no avail. However, I do remember, whether it was in the past life or in this one, being told that plants tend to grow around chapels. Thus began my wild running about Leyawiin searching for that darned chapel. I go east, look around, see nothing. So I walk north, same thing. I run around the streets, looking like a maniac, frantically searching for the chapel. Is it possible that there isn’t one in this town? I’m about to give up, when…

Huzzah! I’m saved! If I had a disease, I’d go inside, but I don’t, so I don’t. Instead, I walk towards it, go to the left of the entrance, and walk along the wall. I hop the fence to the graveyard, and find NOTHING. Abso-freakin-lutely nothing. Not even a measly fly amanita! So I walk around the other side of the chapel, and I finally find what I was looking for:

Huzzah! I walk up to the plant and, what with my degree in Tamrielic flora and fauna, I deduce it’s an Aloe Vera plant. I walk up to it and harvest it.

Jeez, these plants are big! They’re larger than I am, for Christs (Oh, sorry, Talos’) sake, and I’m an orc! We orcs tend to be quite large. I pay it no attention anyway, so I walk down the street and harvest the other Aloe Vera (can be seen in the screenshot before the previous one)

A bit further down the street is a lady, whose name I discover is Margarete soon after. Even though it’s approaching 7:00, I still stop to chat with her. I discover it’s worth my while:

Well, that’s good news. I’ll have to explore this ‘Blackwood’ and this ‘Niben’ tomorrow, as the street lanterns have been lit, so It’s a bit too dark to go to far out of town. However, I don’t see any danger in just taking a few steps out of the town walls for a second, so I move towards the closest gate out of Leyawiin, the west one. While walking towards it, I stop to chat with this fine Argo:

He seems a bit suspicious, and the only useful thought I walk away with is ‘Goddamnit, there’s a lot of Argonians in Leyawiin!”

(Sorry for lack of screenshots in next bit)

I walk outside to a helpful sight: There are quite a few ingredients out here! I pick some lavender, Milk Thistle, Bergamot, Aloe Vera, the ever present Fly Amanita, and these odd Blue mushrooms, which I find near the stables.

I think the horses have… affected the mushrooms in a way. Good thing I don’t plan on eating them.

Since it’s already quite dark, I practice my magic by casting a spell called Starlight, which lights up the area around me with an eerie green glow. Since I don’t want to go too further out of Leyawiin, I decide to go back into town, stopping to chat with a traveling mage. Entering Leyawiin, I ask where to sleep, and I’m pointed to the Five Claws Lodge, which is conveniently located down the street and to the left, around 10 meters away. So I go there.

The proprietor of the establishment is an Argonian. I’m not beginning to expect anything else as of now. We talk for a while, during which I discover he has Obsessive Compulsive and will not charge any money to sleep if the rooms guests sleep in aren’t clean. Hey, it’s his free time, not mine.

I sell him all the things I’ve collected, and, after a bit of haggling, I get to 91 gold. After buying cheese, apples, carrots, corn, and beef (I promptly eat the beef), AND buying a room, I’m left with… 51 gold? (I’m guessing, as I forgot to take a screenshot). It’s 9:30 when I’m finally standing, with my clothes tucked neatly into my underwear, in front of my bed. I take out something I managed to bring with me from Orsinium, which I call ‘the clock of waking’. I set it to allow me to sleep for 12 hours, after which I immediately plop into bed, and to sleep.

Day One, Part One: On the beach

(Sorry for not much in this first update: Didn’t have time to play after installing all mods, patches, etc. I know there also aren’t many screen shots, but that’s my fault, due to errors with fraps and such.)

DAY ONE, PART ONE: ON THE BEACH.

My Character. Born under the sign of the tower (Which I may change to Lord via the console tomorrow), which allows me to Reflect 5 points of damage for 120 seconds, as well as magically unlock locks. Useful as I won’t be actively picking locks any time soon.

My Custom Class is Nobleman. (I might change the heavy armour specialization to light armour later))
So, the story of Grugzob-gro-Boguk starts off outside of Leyawiin, with the damned boat not even leaving me on the proper side of the dock:

That’s my first view, with the coast guard house in the distance. There are absolutely no ingredients here, and I don’t want to do too much searching outside of town just yet. I mean, the great outdoors are no place for a Nobleman! I start by walking over to the guardhouse. To my dismay, it’s locked, and I immediately assume it’s trespassing if I walk into there.

Even if I did want to tresspass to get in there, there would be two problems-

1) I have no lockpicks to speak of.

2) This guy:

Zounds! A Lewayiin guard! I walk up to him and chat for a while, and, the shy bugger that he is, walks off before I can remember to snap a screenshot of my excellent coercion.

Either way, I snoop around a bit for some more ingredients, which I don’t find, which isn’t good. So instead, I decide to let Grugzob try his luck inside Leyawiin:

Sorry for the extreme shortnesses, but schoolwork and slow internet, and long load times have shortened my play time significantly. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some more stuff up tomorrow!

Technicalities

Hello again, my few blog followers.

In the hopes that the first post got you interested, I’m writing this second entry, which will mostly be about the slight differences between my story and Chris’ story. So, without further ado-

Adventuring: My grand goal of 49,000 Septims will be difficult to achieve through just picking apples and Aloe Vera leaves. Also, a nobleman must do SOME adventuring on his own, although not too much, since Grugzob gro-Boguk (Official name) doesn’t like to get his hands dirty. So expect him to peek into an old fort or alien ruin. However, since Grugzob isn’t the bravest of Orcs, he’ll probably run at the smallest sight of danger against himself.

Mugging: Grugzob has certain feral Orc tendencies… like bashing in the odd skull. So expect him to summon a scamp or two to rip up a beggar, or a thief, or someone, as these characters will appear due to my crowded cities mod.

Travelling: My sub objective will be to buy the most expensive horse in Cyrodiil (Cheydinhal’s horses, methinks). Any proper nobleman NEEDS a horse, everyone knows that. So I’ll be doing that. Also, don’t expect Grugzob to be doing too much staying in one place, unless he really takes it to his liking, so yeah.

That’s pretty much the main differences, except for the fact that Grugzob’s adventure will be starting in Leyawiin…

Mais Ques’que c’est ca?

Hello.

That’s French for “But what is this”?, By The Way.

I assume that A lot of you have come from Christopher Livingston’s blog ‘livin’ in oblivion‘, which I must say, is awesome. So awesome, that, in fact it has inspired me, an average gamer, to make my own version.

As you have probably guessed from the title, my character will be an Orc. And not just any Orc, an Orcish Nobleman... Forced to start from the beginning in the vast world of Cyrodiil. Don’t expect much yet, as only tomorrow will I begin the process of mod downloading and character creating, so expect the first entry on Wednesday or Thursday.

I’m carrying over many of the rules and mods from Mr. Livingston’s blog, So, because I’m a lazy bastard, visit his Rules page and his Mods page. However, I am adding a mod of my own.

Even though my character is a nobleman, he’s still an Orc, and if he don’t bash skulls himself, he’s going to get someone to do it for him, so I’m going to be using the Crowded Cities mod, which basically adds a whole bunch of people randomly mulling about each one of the towns.

A large difference between the adventures (NAME) gro (SURNAME) and Nondrick P. Cairk’tir is that Nondrick started out in Anvil - Whereas (NAME) gro (SURNAME) will start out in Leyawiin. Since the Oblivion Modular enhanced mods’ main quest delayer plugin starts you in Anvil, I’ll have to break the ‘No Fast Travelling’ rule once to FT to the North East Gate of Lewayiin, where my boat has dropped me off.

Also, unlike Chris’ blog, mine has a set goal: For (NAME) gro (SURNAME) to restore his title of nobleman by buying Rosethorn Hall! This is the largest house for sale in all of Cyrodiil, costing a total for 49,000 Septims to purchase the home with all its’ upgrades.

However, If I see that I am too rapidly progressing towards my objective, I will change it to this one:

I must purchase EVERY home in Oblivion, complete with all the upgrades. I don’t think I’ll be changing to this one anytime soon.

And that’s all for today!
